(crossposted to tagalog)

ptiza_schastya asked for some Filipino terms for food in an earlier post in the tagalog community. I thought it would be fun to start compiling a list of these things, but there are just so many... so I decided to at least make a list of Tagalog translations for common vegetables and fruits ( Read more... )

I have no idea what most of those look or taste like.

Oh, and technically speaking, a tomato is a fruit!

It is claimed that for culinary purposes it is a vegetable because it is served as part of the pain meal but that would mean pineapple is a vegetable too due to the hawaiian pizza.

I seem to remember someone trying to convince me it was technically neither a fruit or vegetable but a berry!

...okay, please tell me a berry is a fruit and not another category of food i was not properly taught in grade school.

According to my understanding, a berry is a class of fruit.
I suppose you don't want me telling you that a potato is technically a tuber plant and not a vegetable, and the sweet potato is a root...

Aren't we both members of a subclass?
