chicago poetry

untitled chicago 1

i have traveled far
but not close enough.
searching for a familiar face,
i can almost hear their heartbeats.
can you hear me?
i ask the river to carry my cry
but all i hear is the city.

untitled chicago 2

i am the wind
but this is not my city,
these are not my streets.
still i have tasted,
dined,
intrigued by
but not captivated.
perhaps in another lifetime
i will settle in these alleys,
flow amidst these walkways.
but i am the wind
and i am not seduced for long.
