Geek Off 2007
As begun by scarlethester here!
1. I did a term paper my senior year of high school on mass murders and serial killers. My teacher kept my paper to show future classes that with enough effort, you can do a paper on ANYTHING!
2. I met George Takei (Sulu from the original Star Trek series) when I was about 7 or 8 years old. (And went gaga over the ST:TOS reference in his 2nd appearance on Heroes.)
3. I met him dressed up as a Vulcan Princess.
4. I met Tom Baker (see Dr Who)
5. I played Everquest so often that I got a position as a Guide (or GM for those who don't know the game) so that I could see zones and areas I couldn't see yet with my regular character.
6. I played Janet for the local Rocky Horror cast in Chicago.
7. I have gotten a sunburn on my boobs from wearing my ren faire costume too long (at the Scottish Highland Games in Portland OR) - I hated bras for 2 weeks.
8. I play D&D, only I LARP it whlie the rest of the game does pen and paper. Trust me, meditating at a tabletop isn't easy.
9. I used to skip school to hang out at the airport. Cause overpriced food was where it's at.
10. I will people watch while out and concoct complete stories of everything going on with a particular person (couple or group of people) I'm watching. Then I'll tell the story to whomever I'm with that will listen.
11. I used to give the closing store announcement at my high school job as if I was the ride operator at Six Flags. "Attention Osco Shoppers! Our store will be closing in approximately ten minutes. Please make your final selections and bring them to the front check outs. Thanks for shopping at Osco and enjoy the rest of your day!"
12. I've attended science fiction/fantasy conventions since I was 5 years old. I turn 29 in October.
13. I can quote Serenity, Rocky Horror, Say Anything, The Craft and LotR: Two Towers, probably at the same time. (Though I've only tested it with two movies at once.)
14. I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in January. (It comes out next month from you muggles.)
15. I worked part time at a video store strictly for the 30% discount. I weekly spent more than I earned.
16. I own video games for systems I don't have just to own them.
17. Greedo shot first.
18. I get all the references in Kingdom of Loathing and have never said "hahaha, that's a KoL joke" to something that was around before KoL.
19. I found this internet "typo" (and the proceeded to copy the screen, cut the image out and upload it to Photobucket, just so I could paste it here.
20. I like to do walk-a-thons for the freebies more than the cause.
21. This number should be multiplied by 2.
22. My leather bound edition of Hitchhikers Guide (which only contains the 4 in the trilogy) has been read so many times that is pretty much falling apart, I have a not-so-nice one (that does contain all 5 books) to loan out so no one can damage my copy.
23. I remember when I reached the top of the tower and there wasn't a NS to beat. (KoL geekdom only here)
24. With the exception of one guy, every boy I have dated since high school, I have met online.
25. My books are organized by height and then by author. Anything in a series overrides the height sequence and is placed on the "series" shelves.
26. I met Bruce Campbell and still have the Tootsie Roll he gave me. In November. Of 2002. And know exactly where it is. (But I lost the roll of film the pictures were taken on. Don't think about those priorities.)
27. I have probably met more artists, authors and famous sci-fi folk by accident, by the time I was 12 than most people will meet in their life.
28. I stood in line for over 6 hours, for this free autograph! And paid $40 for these two autographs.
29. I had a play performed, on a real stage, with real actors and a real set. When I was 15.
30. If I spend any more time on this list, I will have to watch High Fidelity and then come back to make this a Top Ten.
