Happy Easter everyone. Hope you got lots of eggs and chocolate :)
I've been at home since the fourth of April, so haven't had access to the internet in nearly two weeks, which seriously pained me. There is no way I can manage without an internet connection in the house next year!
Anyway, it was lovely being with my family again, and as usual I had a very busy time doing the rounds of people I haven't seen for ages: Heva, Matthew, Dad, Jo, Hannah, Kyle, Nan, Zoe, Neil and of course Mum, BMM and Stu. Spent a lot of time driving around (and almost always to Retford, but then going home always costs me a fortune in petrol).
Went to see Failure to Launch with Mum one night, as I had some free tickets for the Odeon and we only have a Vue in Reading, and it's actually a better film than I expected; quite funny in some parts, although I still don't see how Matthew McConawhatist is appealing. SJP was okay, but she's in with a cast that's about 10 years younger than she is, which is a bit odd.
BMM was VERY happy to have me back again, and I had to take him with me practically everywhere with him for the first few days. Apparently after Christmas this year I'm not allowed to go back to 'versity, I've got to stay at home and keep him company instead. Also took him to the cinema - the little one in Gainsborough - to see The Little Polar Bear. It was the first time he'd ever gone to the cinema (he usually watches films in the room) and on the whole he was extremely well behaved and enjoyed it. The collapsible seats confused him a bit though!
Went to see Alien Autopsy with Matthew (God I need to stop spending so much money on cinema tickets!) Film was good, it was nice to see Matthew again too. We do tend to have very repetitive conversations though, and I realised that the reason I wind him up so much when I'm with him is because I don't actually have anything new to talk to him about. We have no present and very little future, so we can only discuss the past. And as he pointed out, we have a lot of that. Hmmm. Heva is also keeping well, and I have finally settled into a good frame of mind for dealing with her. I know where and how she fits into my life, and more importantly, how I fit into hers and it makes it easier for me to be around her.
Bo is looking VERY pregnant now. She's due in July (which I may or may not be here for) and she's got some very sexy maternity trousers for work. I love her maternity jeans best though! >:P Mum is planning a weekend break to Center Parcs in May, as an early birthday present to her, so I'll get to see them again soon. It's a big year for birthdays: I'm 21, Zoe's 18, Neil's 20 BMM is 5 and Zoe's sprog will be born! Way back when, Bo and I wanted to have a joint birthday party in August to celebrate our big year, but now we know we don't have enough friends between us to warrant one! I wouldn't mind having one with family too, but as Bo pointed out, it would just be lots of little groups separated off from each other - not ideal really. I don't imagine anything exciting will happen for my 21st :(
On Friday night Jo, Hannah and Kyle all went on a charity pub crawl with me, and we raised £220! I now only need £400 more to reach my target of £2700! The end is in sight!!!
We are all going to Reading Festival too - at least, one day of it. We tried to book weekend tickets but they all sold out in an hour, can you believe it? So we booked tickets for the Sunday show, as that's when Placebo are playing, but we shall keep an eye on eBay to see if we can get any tickets from there. Katie is also only able to make one day, so in a way it's good that we can all go together (DON'T WORRY KATIE - JO AND HANNAH ARE FAR MORE NORMAL THAN I AM, YOU'LL GET ALONG FINE).
I start my new job at Thomas Cook on Sunday (yay!) so I've got to find a pair of court shoes that aren't too expensive but are comfortable enough to stand up in all day - probably not an easy task. And I hate shoe shopping. I still need to write three essays for English too, and I'm at work at Makro every day this week. Why oh why do I leave these things so late? Why?
I'm in summer plans dilemma AGAIN! I had finally (finally!) made the decision to backpack around europe for six weeks, when Dad and Mandy gave me a brochure for
Imaginative Volunteers, who do a 21 day trip to Thailand working at a elephant park! Both of these will cost around £1000, so I can only afford to do one of them, but I'm all in a tizzy again. I mean, working with elephants! How cool would that be?
Went fundraising in Reading Station today, and got into trouble with the police for not having any charity ID on me. The first time I went there I took a whole folder of stuff with me, but no one asked to see anything so I didn't bother afterwards. Nevertheless, for the first time ever I got questioned while collecting. I suppose it had to happen sometime - usually the MIND teeshirt reassures people. The copper said basically I had to shove off, but I said that I'd bike back to my hall, get my authorisation letter and bring it to show him, which he said was okay. Off I went, only to be stopped by two OTHER policemen halfway there, for exactly the same reason! I told them what I told the first one, they wrote down my address and phone number and let me on my way, and I continued to struggle uphill. (I'm not getting much better at riding my bike unfortunately). Got home, got my stuff, went back down town...to find the policeman had buggered off. He probably thought I was lying. I carried on collecting anyway, but because it was Easter Sunday I got practically nothing - £25. Still, I thought I'd give it a go as it was the last chance I'll have to collect there for a while, what with TC taking up my future Sundays.
I've grown very very bored with my music collection recently, so if anyone has any good music tracks they can send me please let me know - I'm dying to listen to some new stuff.
Term starts next Monday. Here's hoping my loan comes through pretty damn quick.
