Mad as a Hatter

I've always loved the character of the Mad Hatter because he was both in Alice in Wonderland and Batman. I just thought I would share some of my favourite pieces of Batman Mad Hatter art :)

This is the image that really got me into Batman's Mad Hatter. I just love the angle, pose, colour, design, costume...

The Mad Hatter from the 1960s Batman series looks quite different from most other versions (with his red hair and mustache) because be was based on an impostor Mad Hatter who wasn't revealed as an impostor until after the series had been made. I think I like the original animated Mad Hatter design the best.

This is a really spiffy music video of the first episode of Batman he appears in called, 'Mad as a Hatter'. It is a very sad episode but also one of my favourites. I like how this video uses the Lobster Quadrille as backing music!

Jervis and Alice. He's sad because she just wanted to be friends so he had to brainwash her :(

And here they are at work. What I think I like most about this design is because he looks so human apart from the nose and mouth. A lot of people make him look like either really anime (he's about the one character I hate when he gets anime-ed) or like a demented leprechaun. Not good looks for him.

It is also good to remember that as cute as his date with Alice was - he is a bipolar, paranoid, extremely clever super villain. I hate it when people call him a weak villain :( I think his weakest moment was when DC put him in one of their evil leagues. Leagues are always made up of characters that aren't dimensional enough to stand on their own. It was a big misjustice.

You can read more about him at his wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Hatter_%28comics%29

This artists does the best Mad Hatter art I have seen on the web <3: http://crispy-gypsy.deviantart.com/

I am officially a Jervis Tetch fan girl.
