The Beat Goes On

Okay so I finished jury service a week ago and now I'm trying to get back to routine (for a few weeks at any rate lol)

I recommend jury service to anyone because I found it very insightful and also emotionally powerful (though I was on a rape case so you can understand how things got emotional). It wasn't always fun because there was a lot of waiting (at one point we had a five day break) and the case went on for four weeks but the people were interesting to meet and watch, as was the legal system (I don't know squat about law) and of course there was also the deliberation. Every witness bar three lied to some extent (including a police officer) so we had to try and pick the truth out and build our own version of the events. We found one man guilty and the other innocent. Though we all agreed on the man's guilt I still felt bad as I am not the type of person who likes to judge another (after my experience with Emma I took a deep look at myself; my judgemental and assuming side was one of things I changed) and well he was big and scary, but my fear was soon replaced with a feeling of well being when the second man heard that we found him innocent. You have never seen a person more grateful. His actions and voice will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I'm currently trying to get back into writing screenplays now that I know that I will be going to the NFTS. I've put My Mad Year on hold and am writing up a five episode series that devised for LCC. I don't like the title so maybe you can help me come up with a better one. Here is the current premise:

Robbie, a teenager who’d have an ASBO if he wasn’t so apathetic, has a week’s work experience at a dead-end office where each of the employees hold secret, second lives. Their lives are so well hidden that even they don’t know each other’s secrets. One is a spy, another is giving birth to an alien, one is obsessed with a computer game, another is under a Japanese curse and one even wants to destroy the world! In such a small universe ambitions are sure to cross and sparks to fly…without Robbie knowing a thing.

I have a two week foundation course with NFTS in November so will have to miss the Tegan and Sara concert. I'm very nervous as I'll be staying with my aunt and uncle who I don't actually know. I don't know the area either. And then there are going to be all those ambitious film maker egos to battle XD I'm so worried I that will fail to impress miserably!

Hmmm what else?

Oh, my birthday is on Wednesday :D I said I'd take mum to Camden Town but we have a decorator in and if she doesn't feel like leaving him we'll probably just go to Bluewater. If anyone would like to do something let me know :D

Now I'm going to check all your journals (I've been very bad at checking and replying, sorry!) and get back to writing character profiles!

Love you all!
