Here's my new coming-of-ageish song :)
His knock on the door
was the timpani
the backbone of the symphony
that kept us on beat
the bells and the chimes
were the splash of the water
and the ringing of the laughter
from our elementary eyes
and it was music when adventure came to us
through a sky of summer smells
and as we told ghost stories
a concerto of cricket chirps rose and fell
Wisdom and stupidity
heralded teenage years
the trumpet and the flute were here
battling for my spirit
and it was music when gorgeous sunsets
ruled my skies
and a trill of light
crescendoed in my eyes
My soul rising and falling
saxes narrate now
in the forest i found
love and insight
and it was music when we fished for shooting stars
and our prayers transformed trees into harps
