A/N: Me and Colleen got a verse goin' on here.
Ryeowook’s eyes have nearly drooped completely shut when he hears the front door slam shut.
He sighs and shakes his head, trying vainly to finish the essay that he hates himself for putting off to the last minute. He snorts through the sleepy haze and thinks that he and Jongwoon have traded places for once, usually it being him chastising his boyfriend while he frantically types at three in the morning.
“Speak of the devil,” He mutters when Jongwoon comes through their bedroom door, tossing his coat on his desk chair and raising an eyebrow at Ryeowook sprawled out in front of his laptop on their bed. Ryeowook doesn’t remember it being so late at night, but figures it must be if Jongwoon is back from work. He looks back to his paper after giving Jongwoon a brief wave, feeling a surge of relief when he notices he only needs half a page more.
“Ryeowook,” Jongwoon laughs with only a hint of concern in his voice as he notices the dark circles under Ryeowook’s eyes, the way his fingers angrily clack against his keyboard. He sits on the bed and attempts to pull Ryeowook away from the laptop to no avail, earning a grumpy smack to his hand for the trouble. “When was the last time you slept?”
“Maybe two days ago,” Ryeowook yawns, squinting to see the text that suddenly seems so much harder to read and ignoring Jongwoon’s insistent prodding. “However long it’s been, I don’t think I’ve seen Hyukjae or Donghae since then, should I be worried for the neighbors yet?”
“Worry for yourself,” Jongwoon shakes his head after peeking over Ryeowook’s shoulder, rolling so he lays over Ryeowook’s back, ignoring the sleepy grumbles of protest. “It’s only a four page paper, Ryeowook. Just make up something else about how great Piazzolla was and we can go to bed.”
“I can’t just make things up, Jongwoon,” Ryeowook mumbles, giving up at trying to dislodge Jongwoon and realizing with dismay that Jongwoon’s warmth only makes him even sleepier, wanting nothing more than to curl into Jongwoon and sleep for a week. Then he remembers he has class at eight and dies a little bit inside. “Papers are important.”
“And so is sleep, so vomit some words and then off to sleep with you,” Jongwoon smiles softly, rolling off as Ryeowook’s whining continues, settling for running a hand up and down Ryeowook’s back gently, relishing in the little sigh that escapes Ryeowook’s mouth. “We both need it, it’s an early morning tomorrow.”
“You’re too distracting,” Ryeowook grumbles, clacking out something that he hopes makes sense and sending submits it before closing his laptop, resting his cheek on it as Jongwoon’s hands work over his back, one slipping under his hoodie to knead the tense muscles between his shoulder blades. Jongwoon starts to hum and Ryeowook finally lets his eyes slip shut, letting Jongwoon lead him into sleep.
Jongwoon smiles when Ryeowook’s breathing evens out, letting his hands run over Ryeowook’s warm skin a bit longer, pressing a gentle kiss to Ryeowook’s temple before moving the laptop to the floor and curling around his boyfriend. Ryeowook’s fingers curl in Jongwoon’s shirt half consciously as Jongwoon wraps his arms around him, lips pressed to Ryeowook’s hair.
...
When the alarm rings in the morning, Jongwoon throws it against the wall.
Ryeowook blinks at the clock blearily for a moment before burying his face in Jongwoon’s neck, slipping his cold fingers up the back of Jongwoon’s shirt for warmth when Jongwoon settles back down next to him. Ryeowook sleepily declares it sleep deprivation skip day.
Jongwoon grins.
