Open to the Public...

I've been absent so please be kind. But it turns out the fandom of many a lovely is still active here, so I'll be in and out, and instead of that nonsense of previous with the locked account, I'm going to write things that people actually will want to read. Such as important musings... just kidding, I'm hoping to write more, fanfiction mostly, but I'll keep you all appraised this way.

Whomever you are...

Hmm, perhaps I should open with some business. Just read a great story for the Firefly 'verse.  A little distracting how you've seen the movie Serenity, and yet this story could be the movie. This evilmaniaclaugh is brilliant in capturing the characters. Even the ones you see for less than a couple of paragraphs. And ah! The drama! Truly worthy of Joss Whedon's direction, if he would be interested. I'd go see this movie. But ah, they won't make it.

And so: The Way Things Turn

Only in rewatching the series am I understanding what he meant when he said that he wrote seven years worth of series development. (My dislike for FOX can only grow.) And I am no longer disillusioned, that was for 2010. Firefly will not return as it was, to hope so is... unrealistic. The comic can fill in our desire to figure out about Book and... dammit, I will mourn the fabulous UST! If I ever meet Mr. Whedon, briefly or for 2 minutes. I must tell him that it's as though he's reinvented subtext and unresolved sexual tension, yes, yes, I will hear your arguments those of you who 'want to believe', but there's nothing like season after season of spike pining after a clueless and murderous buffy. (That is why he can't die.) And ahhh, after watching these episodes again, the crew of firefly has turned into one dirty pit of secret desire. Also, my imagination likes that fact that Mr. Whedon (or possibly even Adam Baldwin himself!) said that more obvious Jayne/Simon subtext was forth coming. What? Did I hear you? Possibly a gay male relationship? As much as Willow and Tara (and Buffy and Satsu) was nice, I was intending to have Angel and Spike have a flashback perhaps, seeing as Mr. Marsters doesn't seem too shy. (I'm looking at you John Barrowman) So, argh! I'm mourning a television show that many people have never heard of!

My only sobering thought in all this is that the Marvel Avengers movie will be *grumble*mostly*grumble* Mr. Whedon's work, and Hollywood will turn away from the darkness it's been kind slouching towards and rub it's scruffy hipster chin to say, "Hmm, snark, sexual tension and social quips. Sounds sell-able."

Oh, I wish. I really, really do. Please give Mr. Whedon money to make his imaginings reality. At least, as long as he wants to.
