6am-6pm?? That's crazy. I can't imagine being gone from Caius that long.... :(

I normally would say A, just because I know how tough it is to find child care and if it were me I'd want plenty of warning. However, perhaps you should speak with Dave and Emilie about raising your rates. You definitely should be paid nanny wages - which is about double what you're making now (or is it even more?). Tell them that you're not making enough and are planning to apply to a job you've seen posted. They should be willing to pay you more so they don't lose you! :)

They definitely should be paying me double. I took a 50% pay cut to come up here to do this for them and feel as though I'm taken advantage of. I know the original idea was to start my own home day care, but that's not panning out well for me. And as long as Leonie is the only child in my care, they take advantage by having me come here often and work past the 6 o'clock mark. The reason my hours are so long this week (72!) is because Emilie has to work a sales promotion for her company that starts every day @7. She sells advertising space for autotrader.com

How long have you been working for them? I think it's definitely time to sit down and tell them that you're going to start looking for another job because you need more money.

I'm sure they *are* taking advantage of you - but they don't even realize they're doing it. If everything is working out for them they probably don't even think about how things are bothering you. *hugs*

So, you're working longer hours this week - are they paying you more for those extra hours? They AT LEAST should be paying you when you work extra hours like that.

Yeah, she gave me an extra $165 for the week. How she came up with that is beyond me...

If you take any time off do they subtract those days from the amount they pay you? Just curious.

The worst part of working all those extra hours is that you can't even be at your OWN home. I mean, if you could at least eat your own food/do laundry/etc. then it wouldn't be so bad. :(

This is what I'm saying!

I've never taken a day off with them. Occasionally (read: not very often) they won't bring her to me and I'll get a day off. I've been taking care of Leonie for the past 4 months (sorry I forgot to answer that ? before)
