You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

1. First Name: Katie
2. Age: 24 (will be 25 on September 30th!)
3. Location: Portland, OR (previously San Diego, CA and before that Lawrence, KS)
4. Occupation: I am just starting my own home day care. I've previously worked in day cares and as a nanny before moving to Portland.
5. Partner: Anthony aka Tony. We met over a year and a half ago through his cousin, Curtis. I locked my keys in the car at the gas station Curt was working at, who was rooming with Tony at the time. We started hanging out and the rest is history. We got engaged Oct 14th, 2007. Hopefully we'll be married next year.
6. Kids: not YET. Very soon in the future, hopefully.
7. Brothers/Sisters: One sister, Rachel. She lives back home, in Kansas City and works at a lawn and garden place, which she's been doing for almost a decade now. I have a step sister, Mona, who is studying advertising/photo editing at a university in Toronto, Canada. And a her brother (my step brother), Samy, is currently living with my parents back in Kansas, he just finished his sophomore year of high school.
8. Pets: 2 kitties, Cosmo (male) and Tavish (female). Cosmo is feisty and Tavish is timid. She is also naughty and I've been trying to break her anti littler box habits for a year now....
9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
1) I advertised for the first time for my home day care this week. Woot!
2) My mom is coming to visit for 2.5 weeks at the end of June!
3) I'm trying to get a handle on planning our wedding
4) I'm still adjusting to living in the Northwest. It's nothing like San Diego and I'm a bit home sick.
10. Where and for what did you go to school for?: I got my bachelor's in 2006 from the University of Kansas in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Psychology. I'm still bummed the Psych department didn't offer a minor. The jerks.
11. Parents: My mom, Cheryl, retired after 25 years working for Sprint, corp. Well, they kinda forced her into early retirement during their big lay off a few years ago. She spends her days looking after my nephew and niece. When she finds a minute to herself you can find her in her garden, the kitchen, or in her sewing room. I don't know my father-who or what he does. He has never been a part of my life. As for my stepfather, Mina, I don't care from him what so ever. He is from Egypt and has lived in the US for the past 10 or so years. Before that he was married to another woman in Toronto.
12. Who are some of your closest friends?: My bridesmaids! Lol Ashley, Artemis, and Becky are my closest girl friends. I used to have many guy friends, but guys aren't as good at maintaining long distance friendships as girls are. Tony's friends were my friends by default in SD, and I do miss them. But it's about time I make some of my own again...
