I've discovered Trader Joe's. Their produce prices are incredible. I also found Whole Foods, as well as a veggie/vegan asian fusion restaurant called SipZ (Craig, you must come visit me only if to dine here). Next door to that is an animal friendly botique (they only sell products free of by-products/testing) and next to that is a cute little fabric store that I have a feeling I will be spending quite a bit of money at. IKEA rocks my world. Of course. My new bedroom colors are: a rich "royal" purple as the base, with silver and peach as complimentary shades. My bedroom walls are a pale green, similar to the green at the apartment, but as Ashley says, with less olive tones.
The drive out here wasn't bad at all. My step father, however, was a big FAT ASS HOLE, as usual. By night one his true colors were already showing. Driving like a dick head, throwing around the trailer like a two year old dragging around a puppy. I seriously want to karate chop him in the face as many times as I can. I despise that man with every fiber of my being. I've gotten my blood boiling just typing about it. However, the 3 days flew by. Night one we stopped at Amarillo, Texas. Night two we stopped at the Grand Canyon (against my will), night three, San Diego, of course. We drove most of the way on old Route 66.
Let's see...Tuesday, everyone minus jack ass went to Sea World, per Ashley's request. It was fun and Zach had a blast (last time we went he was 9 months old and cried at all the shows because of the noise and getting splashed). My favorite show was the sea lion show, where they made of all the other shows. It was great timing because it was the last show we went to, after seeing all the others. Sadly, though, the penguin exhibit was closed for renovations.
Wednesday morning everyone except jack ass shopped at IKEA. It was Rachel's and Ashley's first time. Ahhh IKEA :) Kara, instead of driving out to Chicago for your IKEA fix, you should come visit me :D And you can spend all day there if you want. I picked out the bed I want, but it will have to wait a month or so. I need to work a couple weeks before I start making too big a purchase. This was my last morning with Ashley, as we rushed through the check outs and forged our way through down town traffic to drop her off at the airport. That was an adventure in itself. It was, as expected, a tearful goodbye. Afterwards I was cheered up with a visit to the San Diego Zoo. I saw most of the animals minus the koalas and the lions. We got to visit the baby panda on his first birthday (so damn cute).
Thursday, we spent the whole day at the beach. Ahhhhhh Beachness! And to think, I can go every weekend! It was over cast all day, but the place was busy nonetheless. We rented body boards and my sisters and I hit the waves like fish. We had a blast. I'm thinking I need to invest in a wet suit and a good body board. Katie has a new hobby :) We ate lunch sea side then walked the shore and collected sea shells, which gave me a splendid idea for Becky's xmas present. Though I really need to get going on her bday present before I get too ahead of myself. I spent the evening with my family until I absolutely had to go to bed. I left my mom (after 15 million good bye hugs) crying in the parking lot. And that was the last good bye.
