HELLOOOO, 2010!!!

First of all, big hugs and the best New Year wishes for all my friends here. Here's to hoping this will be a very successful and happy 2010!

I've been having a lot of activity since Christmas. Lunches with family, gatherings with friends, New Year's celebrations of course and the traditional family trip to the beach on January 1st. My daughter enjoyed the beach so much! Last year, she was still too little to fully enjoy the experience, but this year... she had the most wonderful time jumping in the waves and pretending to swim. She made sand castles (or something like that, LOL) and destroyed other people's constructions. And most of all, she enjoyed to be able to eat whatever she wanted at the time she wanted (her lunch for that day was a plate full of... potato chips she grabbed).

Also, we went to Curanilahue to visit Rodri's family for the weekend. As always, they are so nice, so welcoming. And since Chué is a small town, everybody seems to know Rodri or his parents, and we always find ourselves being hugged and blessed by some long lost relative or family friend. I joked saying that it's like being married to a celebrity ("And this is your WIFE!!! Oh, my god, it's so nice to meet you, God bless you!" *bear hugs* *kisses*).

We also visited Uncle Mingo's grave. It's been a year and a half since he died and still Chué doesn't seem the same without him. And he's still present in every conversation we had with Aunt Rosa, his wife. It breaks my heart to see her sad eyes whenever she remembers the man she still loves. And I miss him too. To be on his grave was so strange and so painful at the same time... I told Connie we should sing a song (just because she was happily playing around and climbing on the grave, which, BTW, I DON'T FIND DISRESPECTFUL AT ALL. I know Uncle Mingo would love that and Connie doesn't know what a grave or a cemetery is), so we sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and I'm sure he was listening from Heaven and smiling at us.

Speaking of my baby girl, she is not a baby anymore. She turned two years old on december 26th and we celebrated it the next day. Lucky girl, she got presents for Christmas and two days later she got even more presents for her b-day!

At two years old, my girl is taller than most girls (and boys) her age. She loves to run and to climb, but she's not really agile, in fact I'd say she's a little clumsy... but intellectualy she's quite amazing. She has a big vocabulary and she is able to speak in full sentences without problem.

She's also learning english. When I say "I love you" (in english) she answer "I love you too" and she can count to five, also in english. She knows that "bye!" means "Adiós!" and she uses both words without distinction. She also know that "Sun" is "Sol" and that "To Jump" means "Saltar".

And, being her mother's daughter, Connie loves to sing. She has incredibly good ear for music, she listens to a song once and she can remember most of it later. And when she listen to a song she hasn't heard before, she tries to sing it and to follow the lyrics with the most funny results.

Currently she's obsessed with Mary Poppins (it's so funny to hear her sing the song about the sufragettes, "cast off the shackles of yesterday" and all that!!! XD) and The Sound of Music. Yes, a little bit of Julie Andrews fetish, I think!!! Thanks God I adore both movies, because I've had to watch them over and over again countless times.

In the latinamerican dubbing, Mary Poppins' songs are translated to spanish too, but TSOM are not. And it's just endearing to hear her try to sing in english! She still can't quite manage, but for a two years old who happens to be a spanish speaker, it's not so bad. And I think she'll have the songs nailed in no time.

Here she is singing the final part of "So Long, Farewell", one of her favorite songs from TSOM. I am so proud I could burst. ^_^.
