Well, I experienced my first Halloween party last week. Here in Chile it always seems a little weird to be celebrating a so completely foreing holiday. Even so, I've always loved the concept of dressing in costumes and to go to the street to ask for candy.
Hence my happiness when Andra told me they were going to throw a Halloween Party.
Andra is a relatively new but already very dear friend of mine, we meet last april, I think, at choir rehersals. She is an exchange TA who teaches english pedagogy to students here at my university and she's from Portland, Oregon.
So, thanks to her and her boyfriend, Andy, I've been able to practice my conversational english A LOT. My pronounciation is quite embarrasing, but, hey, I'm improving!! LOL!
With Andra and her friends I also celebrated a very "gringo" fourth of July and I had a blast, so I jumped at the chance to celebrate yet another US holiday with them.
It was a great night. I bobbed for apples and I almost drowned in the process, but I came out victoriously with the apple on my mouth. We also watched Rocky Horror Picture Show... what a great movie!!! In a twisted, freaky kind of way, I loved it. Andra asked me if I was scandalized... It takes much more than a singing guy in stockings and a corset to scandalize me, I have to say!! XDXD
I also ate candy apples made by Jamie, another friend (now I'm acquaintanced with quite a bunch of gringos TAs, LOL. They're all very nice too!!) and then we went to a Touch and Go party when we danced until dawn.
I practically crawled to my house the next morning and I only got a couple hours to sleep because Rodri was working and I had to take care of Connie, of course... but it was all worth it!!
With my friends Ángela (pirate) and Andra (zombie) getting ready for the party
I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!
