Something you probably don't know about me is that I used to watch this show RELIGIOUSLY as a kid:

Seriously, I wouldn't go to bed before I could watch another episode. I didn't understand everything, but I definitely took the importance of kind deeds out of it as a kid, and the Jarod/Miss Parker chase was so. much. fun.
Years later, my final year of high school, I re-watched the entire show & both movies and realised that The Pretender did the impossible in making me ship a couple 90% of whose interaction is being conducted by phone. THEY JUST... WORKED like this, and it made the times that they DID end up in the same room all the more special. I couldn't for my life understand why the creators were never allowed to make the final movie to wrap up the story; it just seemed unfair both to Steven & Craig and to us long-time fans. I joined this forum online where people felt the same way & participated in a "Bring The Pretender Back" campaign wherein we mailed a map around the world & added messages from us next to our countries to show that the show still has a worldwide following & we need our closure. That was 7 years ago; I got into other shows since then, but never stopped hoping that one day, our wish will come true...
Imagine my surprise when one blessed day in July, Steven & Craig both signed up on Twitter to announce that they are BRINGING THE PRETENDER BACK!
Craig & Steven have been super awesome to every fan who's approached them since - chatting w/ us & following us & saying how grateful they are that the fandom is going strong a decade later, and that they finally figured out a way to continue the story & reward us for our loyalty. It's been like a glorious dream, to have your favourite characters back in your life after such a long time - and get to know & interact with the people behind the show you grew up with!
They did a glorious interview in 2 parts about how this all came to be which you can watch here in its entirety here:

If they have to start with novels & work their way up from there, I'm totally down with that. I need to know what happened to Jarod & Miss Parker after their last phone call in the second movie WHICH HAUNTS ME TO THIS DAY. Hopefully, the book sales will be good (I'm definitely purchasing my copies!) & they'll get a Netflix commission b/c both Andrea Parker & Michael T Weiss are IN. \o/
HALLELUJAH!
Tell me I'm not the only one who's excited for this news? There seriously hasn't been anything like The Pretender on TV since, which speaks volumes about the originality of the concept. And these two guys are awesome for fighting tooth & nail for over 10 years for the right to continue telling their story. BADASSES.
