Last week was a nightmare in terms of deadlines for all the papers, so all I wanted to do throughout the weekend is a) remember what it's like to sleep and b) NOT write, lol. However, since Revenge is still the show that gives me all the feelings and had another great episode last week, I just can't move on with my life until I've talked about it.

I think I might need to read The Count of Monte Cristo.
I wondered, in the last episode, why she took the impression of his key. Now it all makes sense. Clever show is clever.
I was so happy when Declan didn't side with Charlotte. Made me like him just a little bit. But I see what you meaning about nobody seeming to care about her right now. Victoria is more interested in saving Daniel and how Charlotte "lied" and couldn't get Declan back on her side, Conrad doesn't give a damn since he found out he wasn't her biological father, and Declan isn't around anymore. So I can see some big blow up there.
I'm a little suspicious of Emily inviting Jack over when surely she knows that Daniel could be watching. I feel like maybe there was some bigger reason there because I can't see her making that sort of mistake, unless she really didn't think he'd a) be watching, or b) suspect her and Jack to be doing anything more than talking.
Also I think that Daniel going off the rails and drinking again... Not a one time thing. And I'll be interested to see how Emily handles him next time they see each other, considering how he acted right there.
Picturing Victoria as a con artist makes for a very funny mental image
THIS. Just so completely different to the Victoria we've gotten to know.

I'm actually planning on reading The Count of Monte Cristo this summer, so I say you definitely should. I'm very interested in it both as a classic revenge story & as an inspiration for the show. MB we'd get to discuss since we'd have to pass the hiatus somehow anyway!
Yeah, Declan's speeches to Jack about taking the fall for the girl he knew for a while when they were 9 are also very relevant... I like what they're doing with his character lately.
I feel the same way regarding Emily inviting Jack in... it's possible that she thought she'd always have her alibi to fall back on when push came to shove, but still, the press is on their case 24/7, and she plays an important part in Daniel's defence as his loving, ever loyal fiance... imagine what the media could have done with this if they had pictures taken.
Also interested whether Daniel's outburst changed the way Emily sees him... I think the expression on her face was genuinely alarmed. It's possible that she'll pretend it was nbd, "You had a lot to drink; all is forgotten" kind of stuff when she's with him, but in her heart have doubts about the ~goodness in him which would previously always exclude him as a target when it comes to her plans, idk.
By the way, regarding David Clarke - you said you kind of hoped he's still alive, and while I'd always rather he weren't or we didn't find out until the last season at least - and this only for Emily's sake #too many cop outs regarding character death on TV lately tbh, I do wonder what this revelation means for that possibility, theoretically. Cause previously, 'a prison fight resulting in David's death' could have also been him staging his own murder, but if it was arranged... Conrad's goons seem to know their biz well. HMM.
