Re: Fanfiction

Aww. . .I feel bad. I did have posted here a rather harsh compartmentalization of fanfiction types: the excellent, the good, the bad, and the atrocious. However, in hindsight, it seems mean and judgemental, and now I feel bad. Yeah, some people write some terrible, terrible fanfiction, but really. . .does it matter? At least they're writing. ...What are the odds that you would start posting more often right when I haven't got time to read? It's not fair, I tell you! *cries*

Just thought I'd say hi, though :)

maybe not everyone who writes really awful fanfiction deserves to be shot but some sincerely do.

there are some people who are really trying their hardest and they just suck at writing anwyay. i guess we can give them an "A" for effort.

but there are a lot of people who are capable of writing well yet their writing is bad, because they're too lazy to get a beta or try to make it at least somewhat acceptable.

yes, everyone writes some pretty awful things from time to time, but at least some of them have the decency not to broadcast it online.

people that aren't even trying to make their writing halfway decent are sloppy and annoying. but that's coming from me, and i'm a bit harsh at times.

Okay, Melanie. Got it.

Lol! You're right, there are people who could do better but are too lazy to exert the necessary effort. I suppose my new-found lenience comes from the fact that I myself am extraordinarily lazy when I have no concrete reason to be otherwise. I try to keep the hypocrisy to a minimum, but it doesn't always work. ;)

And in a way, maybe it's good that people have the nerve to broadcast terrible fiction online. They'll never improve otherwise, and it gives the rest of us a much-needed boost of ego. *grins*

I don't mind that you're harsh. Don't let my enthusiasm deceive you. . .I can be harsh too. :P
