Lunar corona

I just came back from the movies with Rayshelle, Jade, Steven, and Valdy. We went to go see the new National Treasure movie. I didn't know why, but up until the point where the previews were playing, I didn't know what movie we were watching. I never asked when I was invited, and I didn't look down at the ticket Jade had bought me. Lol, but I likededed it. I wanna see Sweeny Todd sooo much. Ugh, I -love- Tim Burton.

But when I came home from the movies, I looked up at the full moon and saw the most miraculous thing. It was a full moon, encircled by a beautiful, perfect ray of light. I didn't know what had caused it, and I couldn't take a picture of it. For a good 10 minutes I just stood there in awe. I wanted to go up and touch it, feel the clouds and mist through my fingertips. I even wanted to drive to where the moon was directly over. I was just...beautiful. I ran inside to look up what it was, and a sense of accomplishment washed over me when I found out. It's called a lunar corona, and it happens "When thin clouds scud across a bright moon it is often surrounded by a bright disk and faint colored rings, a "lunar corona".

Lunar coronae (plural) usually are visible when ice crystals high in the atmosphere are illuminated buy the sun's reflection off the moon. They can sometimes be created by clouds of pollen and other pollutants, as well.

The weather is usually quite cold and clam when these are visible. They may not necessarily forecast any particular impending weather event, but snow could be likely."

I even found a picture that miraculously looks exactly like the view in my front yard. I'm never gorgetting this moment.
