You never really quite stop loving

All these years have taught me that once you like/love someone, they'll forever have that special space in your heart.

Even if you fight, break up, drift apart, stop talking or never see each other again...your brain may forget how it used to be like when you had feelings for them, but your heart never forgets.

In that sense, then perhaps moving on isn't so much about forgetting, remembrance or acceptance. Perhaps it is more about being able to douse that passion with a sprinkle of water and silence that nervous flutter in your heart until it no longer gives you butterflies. More about losing those feelings.

But years later, even after you've moved on, you know you'll still always feel that familiar sensation when you see them again or look at the photos they were recently tagged on their Facebook profile. Those feelings you thought you had already buried with the past come back, and it'll make your heart ache.

It doesn't matter whether they were crushes, infatuations or whether they became your boyfriend/girlfriend in the end. Because it is not so much about the destination but always more about the process in between. Love, once given, can never completely be taken back.

In the past 21 years of my life, I had 4 serious crushes and one became my previous love.

But at the end of the day, when I think about the past, they all bring back the same feelings.

They say you never really quite get over your first love. I disagree; it should be you never really quite get over your crushes too.

love
