I stopped in this quaint small town library to get my boarding pass for chicago. To my left are dozens of joke books. About half are Marmaduke and Heathcliff. The other half consists of joke books similar to the one I just described. All of them have reached that rich yellow color that only develops after sitting more than twenty years on a shelf.
My last couple days here have been pleasant. I read. I nap. I lounge in the lake. I eat well. And it's nice to be with my family.
Chicago will be totally different. I expect an action-packed, friend-filled, urban adventure. I can't wait.
In the meantime, I'll just be catching up on my Marmaduke.
