Vending Machine Dinner
I thought about fast food, I thought of
all of the cafeterias, cafes, and corner shops on campus. I thought
I don't have time, I don't have time--
And I wondered
about the times she's had
a vending machine dinner,
stopped in the hallways of her hospital,
maybe on her way back home
in her forest green hoodie, fabric wearing thin
skinny jeans
hanging off her thighs, she was also
wearing thin
And she punches in the code, F6, a bag of Cheetos
and a Mountain Dew
to curb the hunger, the only three dollars
left in her pocket.
