2005 Yearly Letter to Viggo

Dec 04, 2005 19:53

Ok so I'm a little wacked. I have written a yearly letter to Viggo for the past few years ;-) I send it knowing full well he won't see it. It just makes me feel better. Who knows one day he may?? LOL

Dear Viggo,

I wrote to you a year ago of my appreciation and devotion. At that time I promised myself that I would write to you once each year. Well a year has come and gone, another year older… hmmmm, a little wiser. Here a year later and not much has changed. I still reach out to your inspiration when times are difficult or I find myself slipping back into the “darkness”.

A year has past - I’m in a better place than I was then. I am much more centered and at peace. I have stopped flailing against the things I cannot change. I have learned to accept some of my fate. And feel much better for it.

I am glad that History of Violence did so well for you. I found it an incredible movie that showcased your range as an actor. The transformation as you went from Joey to Tom was amazing to watch. You deserve the recognition that has come from this movie.

I have been fortunate this year that you have received quite a bit of press. Many interviews to garner those little bits and pieces of what I can only image is the real you. I can speculate on what the year has done to you. I guess it’s no secret that being in the public eye is not what you strive for in life. Sometimes I wonder why you chose this life for yourself? Living under a microscope, your every step recorded and passed on, cannot be fun in anyway. It has to make retaining who you really are a very daunting task. So many of us think we know you, but in reality we only know what you are willing to let us know. We have no idea of the true inner workings of your mind.

Well a much shorter letter than last years. Just know you continue to be a positive influence in my life. I am in much appreciation for your view of the world.

With much admiration and love,
Catherine
