I only have ONE real complaint about Dragon Age 2
EVERY cave you go into, whether on the Wounded Coast, the mountains, it seems, and other levels/paths are EXACTLY the same level design.
Well of course, nevermind the Deep Roads, but still. That area is legitlly awesome/scary with the stone wraiths, golems, and goddamn DRAGON.
“Oh look, same DAMN pile of rocks and hey there’s that SAME GODDAMN bridge where I know those huge ass spiders are going to drop down and eat me ARRRRGHH.”
Spiders:
<.< Only so dang many times I can run across the same bridge, or LITERALLY get lost AGAIN and stuck in a dead end of rising pikes of rocks and pebbles before I realize “I’ve seen this formation before.”
Although the tight corridors DO make wonderful choke points for me and my team to fall back and narrow the enemies into a perfect line of kill shots…if Fenris wasn’t going all “GRRAHHHH kill them all!” and dashing into the melee all by himself. Varric, myself, and Anders wisely stay back and fire instant DOOM and KABOOM from a safe distance.
Fenris:
Me: “Fenris GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE.”
Then get a swarm of dark spawn, with a Desire demon and a whole other mess of evil THINGS coming at me (Abandoned Thiag mission, GRRRAHH) AND my teammates slumped throughout the area like useless lumps, dead as a sack of potatoes.
Me: “FLEE!” (Trying to save up mana to try and revive downed teammates)
Reach door at the end of the hallway, “Oh look door magically locks behind you now it’s your personal horror movie and oh there’s that horrible lava love child monstrosity spawning behind you that is going to melt your face off.”
Me: While being killed horribly.
Dark spawn/Demons:
<.< Twenty or more horrible/RAGEING/deaths, and with the help of Dragon Age wikipedia and me realizing “Oh derp derp, I can lure them into the hallway KILL THEM ALL.” I finally survived that horrible mission.
Only then had about twenty BILLION other bosses afterwards to contend with too. (Not really. So far Arishok, High Dragon, and the evil spidery wannabe GRRRRR bastard in the caves, and some scattering of demons) XD
