-         2nd night out in Ireland -

Crikey! First of all, I apologize that almost everywhere I have been, I have forgotten to take the overly priced digital camera I bought for the purpose of capturing pictures of these acts - this horrid mistake will not happen again, I assure you!

(Working backwards)   Today was the first really gorgeous day I have had here in Ireland - no rain all day, mild to hot weather, with a gorgeous sun and clouds in the sky. I walked around the river and through trails that go to the country side with a friend that I have met here in Ireland. The country side was beautiful with lots of cows and green fields - the shock, and feeling of loneliness I had when I first arrived is now gone. I feel still for those around me who are still feeling it, because it is a drab and depressing emotion. To feel that you are quite alone. But, after walking everywhere and meeting more people this was not in any way a mistake. I love it here, and I can’t wait to travel.

Now, for last night….zoinks! Irish men (especially drunk Irish men) are insane! My suitemates and I went into the city of Limerick and hung out in this pub by Dolans….it was in quite a sketchy part of town and although it looked great when we walked in there - aside form the two females already at the bar we were the only girls in this place…surrounded by 7 very loud, men.

We took our seats at a high rectangular table in the back with a bench and stools, chatting and drinking, not really sure if we had made a good decision in the choice of pub, but stayed there none the less. We began to notice one fun and loud female who was dressed so urban wonderful, a yellow short sport jacket with a blue striped pirate shirt and blue cargo pants - so seemed like a grand character.

Suddenly the first really ghetto American song comes on the radio and it’s gold digger - the men begin to dance quite badly for which I make a mild face stating so, and the bartender notices me - he laughs and says; “what’s wrong?” To which I reply, “They’re not dancing well.” - “ooooh, you’re from America! Ha, be careful here!” - He then yelled to the blonde girl having such a good time and said, “Hey, these girls are from America” - She turned around with a wide eyed expression and walked over to us - she was so curious and funny, asking us questions and talking to us. Trying to get us o join the rest of the pub’s party. She told us that the bartender was her husband and that everyone in the place were all friends of his. She then called the rowdy men over and for the rest of the night we didn’t stop laughing. The questions and things they said! There was one attractive character who had approached me earlier in the evening when I went to get my drink; “Do you know how lovely you are.” I shrugged and walked back to the place where my friends were sitting. Now, he walked back over and began to whisper things in my ear about breast size and so on and so forth. And yet, it wasn’t offensive so much as comical. They were characters who had accepted the fact that they were all a bit off, and fun about it. The night was grand and the characters were quite unique. At another point in the evening I brought back a beer o one of the boys who had left it on our table. I placed it in his hand and he said; “OOOh, you find me attractive do ya?” - and then took of his shirt and danced in front of our table! We couldn’t stop laughing. They all began to hit up on each other and sing loudly to whatever Irish tune was on. It was great! At one point, one of the men just started singing a tune and everyone joined in.

We were invited to go out with them after but had to leave because honestly, although I’m not afraid of Limerick City because I wasn’t born with the good sense that gives people such fear, I could understand the girls I was with and their reasons for wanting to head back to school together. So we left, but not with out a night worth telling to those who would listen when we got back….oh, and here's a picture of the view of the river from my room one a sunny day - and below it is a picture of the being i miss most of all from the land of oz...for now...i love you all, and good day ;)
