I'm happy you hear the team up with Ashley went over well. It totally wasn't part of the plan, but then that movie happened, and you know how Ed gets when he thinks up short term plans that he thinks will work for the immediate future. There was just no stopping him. ^^;

Kimblee got his job because he's such a smooth talker and would get any job done. And then there was the fact that being forced to cooperate - or at least not work against Kimblee would frustrate the hell out of Team Mustang. :)
