(no subject)

For a long time I was quite indifferent about most religions, dismissing spirituality as unimportant part of life. Lately, however, I became more and more convinced that some kind of Divine Power, call it God, Universal Mind, or Higher Being, arranges certain events to happen.
I can't give any evidences to support this conclusion, but can say that many things, such as music, job, and other things, have been arranged by God in some sort of elaborate scheme I can't yet grasp.
As far as actual religions go, until now I felt no urge to join a church or other religious institution, neither did I feel any interest to explore most world religions. I do consider Jesus Christ a very significant historical personality, but I don't connect him to anything supernatural. Same goes to other prophets, such as Buddha and Mohamed, however I don't know as much about them as I know about Jesus. But, like in the case of Gee, I am not particularly driven to know anyway. I tried reading Bible long time ago, but didn't find anything worth of interest besides it's historical and cultural value.
Today I learned about one religion, or philosophy, if you insist, that accord with my personality(so far). This is SCIENTOLOGY. It's too early to consider myself scientologist, but this is the religion I'm excited to learn more about, unlike Christianity or other religions.
Don't get me wrong - I do respect any religion or belief, whether it's Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, or anything else(even Pagan beliefs, although to be honest, these beliefs in XXI century, look rather silly. Sorry that I don't like Paganism, but my dislike is not for people, only for what they believe in). But I'm just not interested to read any scriptures or go worship in their sanctuaries, except visits every now and then to hang out.

Today, at work, there was this nice-looking Ukrainian girl I'm working with, about 18-20 years old. She is a devout Christian who believes that by going to church she could go to heaven and infidels like me would be burning in hell. Then she told me to read Bible and check out her Pentecostal Church. I instantly felt a strong aversion to these ideas. Maybe I would feel better if she was single:), but she was married, and said her husband wouldn't allow to see me perform a show at the club. I understand that it doesn't represent most Christians, but still, this kind of mindset is not for me. She, by the way, has very shallow knowledge of any subject, and talking to her is not that interesting. I kind of thought that by hanging out with me I could introduce her to something new and maybe move her from these kettle town values I consider primitive.

But back to Scientology. Scientology is a religion that favors intellectual and cultural growth, that favors personal improvement, that favors seeking success. I'm not saying that it's always true, that there are no scientologists seeking to harm you, and that the whole organization is good(whatever it means). But isn't it true for other religions as well?

I'm looking forward to learn more about scientology, and give it a chance.
