Mckennah Riann

is the name we finally went with. She was born January 8, 2007 at 8:22 PM. I have to say that it is true that no one can prepare you for labor. I tried to go without any pain medicine. After eighteen hours of painful contractions though, one is likely to change their mind. So I had a pain medicine inserted through the IV. they gave me the smallest dose they had, upon request. It took effect fast. it was the kind of medicine that would knock you kn your ass. my lips went numb and it made me pass out. After about two hours though it wore off and I needed to ask for another dose. Of course by the time the second dose got there I was in the transition stage of labor which is just before you push and the contractions seem back to back. Well the second dose had no effect. But I tried to stick it out with out an epidural. That didn't work either. I soon realized that my I had stopped dilating. I hate to say it but my mom was right. The pain was so intense that my body wouldn't progress any further. So I asked for an epidural. I would have asked for a stronger dose of the IV medicine, but they won't give it after eight centimeters, which is where I was stuck. That is why I went with the needle in the back. Anyway as soon as the pain was taken care of my body went into high gear and within the hour Mckennah was born. She weighed seven pounds thirteen ounces and measured twenty and one half inches long. She went straight on my belly and I got to see poppa cut the cord. For those who know me, yes I cried. But I do have to give myself props because I did have one of those very quiet labors.

FYI- the epidural only took away the pain, I could still feel everything else.
