Hello, all! I'm not sure if anyone is here because this community hasn't been updated in a long time... but anyway, I work at a library and spend my free time reading gay books. XD I saw our online summary of Dream Boy and put off checking it out because it was described as a coming-out novel and just came across to me as kind of a cliche, dime a

The movie, I think, is worth the watch - but that the book is better is a given. :) Still, I did really adore the movie. The soundtrack is so beautiful and melancholy - perfectly fits the story, I think! Also, Nathan's actor (Stephen Bender) is spot on. Seriously, he's exactly how I envisioned Nathan in the book, I could not be more pleased with his portrayal. After reading some other reviews, it seems a lot of people liked Roy in the movie, I just. :( he didn't look like him at all, for me.
>D It IS really sad though! I was in tears!!!
As far as LGBT-themed books go? There's one called The Vast Fields of Ordinary that was a cut above average, I think, also featuring gay teens. There's The Center of the World by Andreas Steinhofel which is also eerie and beautiful. My most recent gay book aside from Dream Boy though was An Arrow's Flight, which is a must if you like Greek mythology. XD

I've never heard of any of those books, I'll have to check them out. My favourites are Common Sons by Ronald L. Donaghe, which is the first part of a series. It doesn't have the best writing and its from a small publishing house so its not that great editing, but I love the story. At Swim, Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill is great, although just like the DB movie I put off rereading it because its so sad. The Charioteer by Mary Renault is amazing. Some more fluffy fun ones are Rainbow Boys by Alex Sanchez, Hero by Perry Moore (gay teen superhero!), and Clay's Way by Blair Mastbaum.
