A New Week

Mar 03, 2008 01:05

It was a lazy Sunday. We had a lot planned for this weekend but we did nothing. Snow fell as forecasted; about six inches fell around my city, more elsewhere, less by the airport where our snowfall is measured. Jessica woke up around 6:00am to feed Rylin; she noticed the grass and street already covered. When I awoke at 10:00am, the snow continued falling and the wind began to pick-up, some would call this blizzard like conditions, I call it Colorado.

I made my usual breakfast for the family. Jessica likes to call me a short-order cook, it’s because I make eggs (any style) and they all come out perfectly. Jessica, obviously not trying to one-up me, followed suit with apple caramel pancakes. They were delicious. There’s nothing better on a cold, winter, and snowy day in March then hot pancakes in your stomach. Following breakfast Ayden and Rylin took their naps allowing Jessica and I to watch television, play on our laptops, and give the older children a chance to play on their computer without the constant interruptions of Ayden.

We watched Trade. It’s a sad film depicting human trafficking and it pulls no stops. Kevin Kline and the rest of the actors portrayed their roles impeccably. You begin to feel the devastation, pain, confusion, and hell these children and young adults are going through. How these lives are irrevocably changed by the actions of those trying to make money from such horrid, cruel, and lascivious actions. It’s appalling how we can ignore the hundreds of thousands of children and young adults trafficked each year yet spend billions on a war that does nothing but create more hatred of America throughout the world.

I cannot believe it’s already Monday. A full day of work is ahead of me and I need to get to bed. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I’m in a class all day. This will partially destroy my week but will also create a break in the monotony that the past few weeks have been doing to my health. I’m hoping I’ll finally break free of this cold and be able to once again breathe!
