i just realized that most of the music i listen to is >10 years old now. when the fuck did this happen?
i've been auto-tagging my mp3s for
scrobbling ease, and i keep seeing a lot of 199[0-9], and i'm like ... fuck, my music is..aging. i wonder if this is how my mom felt when i suddenly started listening to duran duran instead of whatever she listened to (i never ever dug country western, so that wasn't really an issue, sorry dad).
it's weird too, because i'm digging less & less of the newer industrial bands... there's a couple good ones, many that have a couple tracks that i really groove on, but no replacements for front line assembly, front 242, or their like. exceptions are like the great crisis by c/a/t, which i fucking love to pieces; caustic, rosewater, kiew, alter der ruine -- really kickass rhythmic powernoise/industrial with some hard groove to them. on the more synth edge, i've been listening to some red cell, iambia, skinjob, etc.. but most of the rest of the newer stuff i haven't even bothered listening to.
also, wtf? funker vogt is going on tour to support their live album? some german biker guy pulled me aside in a bar recently because i was wearing my counterstrike tour tshirt and he was all excited to see them at the DNA lounge next month, i have to say i felt sort of disoriented because i hadn't realized there was a new album coming out, and there isn't. sort of. it was weird.
for no reason at all, i blame it all on trent reznor. for a great squishy bell percussion sound on the next neubauten album, they should make trent eat microphones, then take turns beating him with various sized organ pipes.
