It's raining. She doesn't remember it raining in the Nexus before, ever. Aya steps outside and notices it's only raining over her house. Perfect

The ritual is over. Aya-chan's going to be fine... And Sanzo did what he came to do. As soon as Aya's brother goes to take her to her room, he's already heading out the door and back into the garden.

At least it's not raining anymore.

Aya sees Sanzo leave. He would let the monk go, as that's clearly what he wants to do, but he promised his sister.

He rushes to catch up with the monk.

"Thank you," he doesn't sound at all winded. He does sound as if he feels slight awkward. "She wanted me to thank you."

Sanzo pauses. "I already told her that she doesn't need to thank me."

“That generally does little to discourage her.” Any humor in Aya's voice is completely imaginary.

Aya himself will forgo the thanks. “I owe you a debt.”

"There seems to be little that discourages her period."

That part actually makes him turn slightly to look at Aya. "... I didn't do this for her. Or you."

"That doesn't change anything. You helped my sister where I could not. I am in your debt. If you have need of me, Aya-chan knows how to reach me."

Sanzo can tell that arguing with him now would be pointless. He also understands how frustrating it must be, to owe a debt like this to a complete stranger. It's probably a situation that they'd both rather avoid.

"Fine," he replies after a long pause. "I'll keep that in mind."

Aya nods as if agreeing to words unspoken. Nothing remains to be said, so he turns and returns to his sister's house.
