She wanted to take another pain pill, but they made her sick to her stomach. The rocking of the old fishing boat already made her queasy.
The doctors had told her Farfarello left the hospital yesterday. He hadn’t said good bye.
She looks out to where the Ani Museum sank into the ocean over a year ago, and wishes that she had more to rely on than Sakura’s memories of the ritual. If she fails, she will never be strong enough to make things right again.
She begins the incantation Sakura had described to her:
“Truth of Heaven and Earth, by the ancient teachings of Baldou, transfer the soul of our great leader trapped in the Netherworld to this sacrificial offering.” She chokes. The boat shakes. Aya never sees the enormous dark shadow that passes beneath the water.
“I welcome his spirit into this body which lives with a soul that is dead.” Her mind flashes to an image of a dark haired man with glasses. She isn’t sure if it is her father or Hughes. I’m sorry, she thinks.
“Separate Life from Death. Break down the boundaries of Baldou and return Dahatou. The time has come, Oh Great Spirit, the time of resurrection is now.” The ocean becomes silent. Not even the waves make noise. “Kulsh do mous sassou bonhee era.“
Nothing happens.
She has failed again.
((A note to Kakyou-mun: Feel free to have Kakyou arrive at the end of the thread, after it's too late to stop the ritual. The men from the Green Dragon Group will linger after Aya-chan has gone.))
