Nearing completion

GOOD NEWS
I went to Starbucks on Sunday to see if my application had been faxed over, and the asst. manager suggested I fill out another one just to be sure. So I did that, went back yesterday to check on it, and John, the manager, said I have exactly the availability he needs, and to come back the next day for an interview. That was today, and it went as well as it possibly could have. I will very soon, like so many people I know, be wearing the green apron of a Starbucks employee. Sweet!

BAD NEWS
...unfortunately, I don't begin until October 8. That is, training doesn't begin until then, so I shouldn't expect a paycheck until the following week. My bills aren't really going to wait that long. Fortunately, Marc said he'd lend me money to cover my bills...maybe he could even spot me some to take Cadi to King Richard's Faire, which has its last weekend around October 22. I know he doesn't mind letting me borrow (or sometimes have) money, but it's still a little annoying to me. I was really hoping to start sooner. But at least I have a job (really close to school, too) and in a few months I'll be eligible for health and dental insurance. So it may be kind of a lean Christmas as far as buying for other people (unless I work a bunch of Sundays and do a few nights a week of valet at Lincoln Park on the side), but hopefully by New Year's I'll be making steady progress towards wiping out my debts (which right now, are looming kinda large.)

"EH" NEWS
Delia, the girl I'm interested in in Geology, has the same Geo lab as me--today. So I got to work with her and Jen, another girl I'm kinda friends with. I found out that Jen (whose voice reminds me of Carrie Fisher) is a big Star Wars geek, and she and her fiance (damn) will occasionally have fun by beating each other with his prop lightsabers. She's also nearly 32, which is REALLY surprising; I knew she was older than me, but she looks more like 26. But that's not the point. Turns out Delia has a boyfriend, too, and they're living together or something. That sucks. Fortunately, he's not the insanely possessive type, so Delia and I hung out for a little while today. She had some time between the Geo lab and her next lab, so she went with me to Starbucks, showing me how to get there by the back roads. John wasn't there at the time, so we had some drinks and talked for about an hour. She's a very sweet girl, and smart enough for me to have a decent conversation. We had a nice discussion on spirituality, in which I learned that we have similar views on the subject. Her mom's a Witch, too, which is cool. A generational-tradition Witch, actually, which is even better; I want to meet her. Anyway, I brought Delia back to the school before going back for my interview, and I get the feeling that we'll be pretty good friends, even if that's as far as it goes.

And thus, another day passes in this individual's life.
