Random bits and bobs.

So Nikki and I went to see Pirates Sunday night and omg. *diesandisdead* So many pretty, pretty people. I'm officially in love with Norrington now, kthnx.

I've been selling things on Amazon's Marketplace lately, and so far the most interesting happening is that some judge in Miami bought my Tyrannasaurus Hives CD, even had me mail it to his chambers and everything. That gave me a good giggle.

The new Vines CD is amazing, by the by. Much more mellow than their last one, and they're starting to fully embrace the weird Beatles/Nirvana thing they've got going on. It's nice.

My chemistry book for next semester is $111. USED. *cowers in tehfearzomg*

Speaking of school, this is mostly just here for my reference, but if you're really terribly interested to see what I'm taking next semester, you can do so

Yeah, that's right. The non-history major has three history classes in the same semester. I am going to have a nervous breakdown, no doubt. I only need one more history class to complete my minor. Go figure.

In other news, I'm desperately trying to get rid of my current cell phone and plan, mostly because A) the phone sucks and B) I hate WV Wireless with the burning intensity of a thousand suns. So I emailed their customer service to ask about cancelling the account.

This is the original email I sent:

I called a CSR earlier this evening to see how much it would cost to get out of a contract early, and it ould be $200. Being a student, obviously I don't have the money to pay all that at once. Is it possible that I could do so in installments? Like, say fifty dollars a month or so until I got it paid off? Please let me know. Thanks.

The reply, which seemed nice and CSR-y enough:

Thanks for inquiring with us!
We at West Virginia Wireless do not want to lose you as a customer. May I ask, what is the reason you want to disconnect? Your account shows interrupted but only for a small amount. As you may already know, if you pay the entire bill amount, $74.98, we can waive any fees to restore your service. This is only the second time your service has been interrupted so you have been a really great customer and we do not want to see you disconnect. At this time the $200 fee is due to be paid at time of disconnection. However, if you cannot pay it then it would be billed to you and you can certainly make payments. If there is any remaining account balance left unpaid, it will go to collections. You would still be able to pay us the amount due until paid in full but your account would remain in collections until then.

Please reconsider disconnecting you account. West Virginia Wireless offers some of the lowest priced plans on the market and you can bet on that!

We appreciate your business!

My reply:

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Basically the reason I'm wanting to disconnect is because I *never* use my phone, really, so I was wanting to switch to a prepaid service. It's nothing to do with the company or anything, just a matter of personal needs is all. I don't have my acct. number available, but my phone number is 304(blahblahblah) -- could you possibly just go
ahead and cancel this for me? I'll pay everything that's owed just as soon as I can, probably within the next month or so. Thanks for the help.

And the bitchy reply I received in return?

Thank again for contacting us Amanda but I will not be able to cancel your service without the $200 early termination fee paid. I know I said you can make payments but your account must also be up to date. There, too, is the matter that our organization requires the customer to come
into our retail office to sign a disconnection form. You can do this at the same time you pay the account up to date. However, I would like to point out that you did sign a contract stating you would pay for service every 30 days for the duration of your agreement with West Virginia
Wireless. We all have needs and those needs change from time to time, of course. But when a company, such as ours, has a customer to sign an agreement, it is to confirm the customer understands their role of accountability. Please take this into consideration before
disconnecting. Thank you.

If you have any further questions please call 611 or your cell phone or come into our retail office.

Thanks! We appreciate your business!
