Sand

Is everywhere. It's in the air, it's in the lungs, between sheets, inside my mouth and inside my gloves. Israel, folks, is a wondrous country. You travel 80km in any direction from almost any location and you end up on a different continent entirely. While everywhere else in the country it's the long-anticipated floods and rabid storms, here - it is just sand. The cold, cold wind, throwing waves and waves of sand at 80kmph into my eyes.
When I came home after work this morning I found my entire place covered in a layer of fine yellow sand - it was everywhere, heck it probably was between the sheets on the bed, but I was too tired to notice. Lying there in the dark, windows and doors welded shut against the raging wind, the dry smell of rocks digging into my brain through the nostrils, it was like sleeping in a tomb.

I think I have an idea what true armageddon might look like - a cold sandstorm, blowing for ever and ever, and no rain to come and wash it the fuck away.
