Okay...you've been warned.
So, I'm seriously loving the new season. Absolutely epic. Pure brilliance. I wish more shows were written like this.
But I'm taking issue with Bobby right now.
All right...In 2x14 Born Under A Bad Sign, Sammy got himself possessed and did all sorts of Really Bad Things, as possessed people tend to do. Bobby, the most BAMF character on television, figured it out with a bottle of beer and a shot of holy water. Poor MegSammy never knew what hit hir. (Him+Her=Hir because Sammy's, at least nominally, a guy and Meg was definitely a chick.)
So Bobby helps kick Meg out of Sammy (which looked nearly as awkward as it sounds), and ultimately gives a pair of anti-possession amulets to the brothers to prevent either of them from getting themselves turned into meatsuits and going out and doing Really Bad Things like that.
The brothers, because they're actually kinda smart, go out and decide there's always a chance those tiny amulets could break or be stolen or, in some way, become separated from their bodies. Then they'd be in Really Deep Crap because they make a career of pissing off demons which means those evil critters can't wait to turn them into Demon Condoms and go out and do REALLY Bad Things while riding them. So Sammy and Dean decide that, although amulets are problematic, it's hard to lose something a little more permanent. So they get these really awesome tats on their chests- which they then proceed to show at nearly every opportunity.
Now, what does this have to do with good ole Bobby? While...if you've seen the Season 5 pilot, you realize Bobby got himself turned into a meatsuit. That means...he either never had an amulet or he lost it. It also means he never even had the concept of doing what the Winchesters did.
That just doesn't seem to fit with BAMF Bobby- the smartest guy on the show.
