Barack Obama is dealing another slap in the face to the Veterans of the United States military.
During this Memorial Day, Obama is choosing to skip the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to vacation in beautiful, sunny...Chicago?!? Yes, apparently fulfilling some mysterious campaign promise to visit Chicago every six weeks (and having not been there since February), Obama and his family will be skipping out on honoring our U.S. military Veterans. While some point out that Reagan and BOTH Bushes skipped out on the Arlington Ceremony during their administrations (Reagan attended a summit meeting in Williamsburg, Virginia, Bush Sr. attended a wreath-laying ceremony in Kennebunkport, Maine and Bush Jr. was in Texas), each had someone serving in their stead. Will Obama have a stand-in for the ceremony? Probably. But the difference between Reagan/Bush Sr./Bush Jr.'s lack of attendance and Obama's is that
Barack is the first President in 50 years who also skipped out on the inaugural ball honoring Medal of Honor recipients. While Oprah was a priority on Obama's list on inauguration night, our soldiers and their families just weren't important enough to be recognized.
