Oops, I went to...

Thanks all for the words of encouragement! Symposium went well - I was fortunate to have all my tech snafus and video malfunctions in the run through the day before, so I had good tech karma the day of. It was a little nerve-wracking in the Q & A, but people brought really good, thoughtful questions to the table and it wound up being a great experience.

I did send out an invite to the FC studio, but FCBD was traveling and most of my class mates had plans. But my co-panelist's mom, who's a regular in the beginning classes, sat in the front row and zaghareeted for me. Also, after someone asked about the inherent meaning in the dance steps and I gave a long academic answer, she jumped in and informed them that they could look into all the historical background they wanted and that was wonderful, but the *real* reason women belly danced then is the same reason they do now: "It's just so darn much fun!" Awe. Some.

My dad and his fiance, Denise, came up for the weekend to see my presentation and to visit for a while. Possibly as important as thesising, they met Jason and his dad and everybody seemed to enjoy hanging out together. And now Jason knows that I do have family, they're not just figments of my imagination that I call on Sundays.

Pretty much as soon as Symposium was over, I had to delve into thesis. Technically I'm still in the midst of it (let's see, I've had 4 hours of sleep since Saturday?) - it's due tomorrow and my defense is on the 21st.

Which brings me to today's question: thesis writing is...

A) Hell
B) Purgatory

For the uber geeky, specify which ring in your location of choice and why. To be fair, you can make an argument for it being Paradise, but you'll have to be extra convincing.

I'm leaning towards Purgatory, only because it is technically a voluntary exercise and there is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you don't know when you'll get there. I haven't figured out exactly what sin I'm atoning for yet - I'll have to consult my Dante.

AoE mixes are decidedly a saving grace in this process though...they're the only things keeping me awake (even coffee isn't working at this point).

thesis, dante, vcs, symposium
