Remind me not to venture out during planetary backslides. So far this weekend...
- My boyfriend's phone has gone out, probably not to be fixed until Weds. Also, his car is making an odd noise that we're hoping doesn't result in it dying.
- I had 2 students email me wanting tutoring....at midnight on a Friday night, and they wanted to meet today for projects due Mon. ("It's an emergency!" Um, sorry, no kids...I'm not cancelling my studio time to meet with you for corrections you won't even have time to implement. And just because I live in your building doesn't mean I'm available at the drop of a hat.)
- I got up with every intention of going to the studio and being productive today. Jason and I finally got over to Oakland at 2 after a groggy start to the morning (you know it's bad when you've had 2 cups of coffee and still aren't awake), and decided to run an errand and get more caffeine in hopes of attaining consciousness before 5. At both Longs and Starbucks we ran into lines of doom compounded by mobs at the checkout, lack of cashiers and machine malfunctioning. So it took about an hour to buy safety pins and a cup of coffee. I got into the studio and got to work, only to realized about halfway through what I was doing that it didn't look right and I'd have to re-plan the sleeves for the dress I'm working on. At which point I got chased out of the studio by an irate cleaning lady, so decided to take that as a sign from the gods that today was, in fact, over.
- I trudged to the BART station in the rain and cold to arrive home to find that we have no hot water in the dorm, and it likely won't be fixed until tomorrow. So cold showers in the morning, I expect.
+ On the upside, I got to take two really good classes at FatChance yesterday, got another 1/3 of my project finished and got to spend some quality time with the boyfriend hanging out and watching movies. Immortal is a really beautiful film, but I don't think I understand the plot at all.
That's still a score of stars 5, me 3, so I think I'm staying in the rest of the evening to knit, watch Howl's Moving Castle and generally hide from the outside world.
