As I have pointed out to more than one individual, what is reported is always skewed by the opinion of the reporter. I came to this conclusion from some personal experiences that were radically different from media broadcasts. Two examples that came to mind are:
1. When I was at the unification of Germany, my German friends hated the idea because they would have to pay for the failure of East Germany. This union was reported by the majority of Western media as being welcomed by the German people.
2. When I was in Desert Storm, the Russians actively broad cast how horrible us Americans were for threatening Iraq. This was after Mikhail Gorbachev's Glasnost and we were reportedly friends with the Soviet Union.
Which brings me to the Nuclear Fear that some Americans are running with today. If Japan was a glowing crater then I might have something to worry about however 5000 miles is a little beyond the fall out zone if the plants go boom. Marie Curie has been dead for almost 80 years so that we better understand radiation. Who could rebuild after a nuclear disaster than the Japanese? Hiroshima looks better today than Detroit.
Stop freaking out people. If you want to help then please help but don't expect me to freak out and kill my thyroid or any other silliness because of something on the other side of the planet.
