Nancy Pearcey came to convo today and spoke on Post Modernism and Christianity. It was interesting...it was real. She spoke the truth and got me thinking on some things. It is true that the secular world views Christianity as a crutch or emotional. They don't view it as truth, science is truth. People try to seperate the heart from the mind. Even in our churches today you hear more about feelings or heart issues and not a whole lot on our minds. God created us in His image and gave us a brain not to be seperated from our faith, but to be integrated into it. Our faith has much to do with the heart, that is true, but, when are we going to start engaging our minds also? When are our churches going to start preaching tough stuff that requires us to think? And when did it become wrong to have questions and want to dig deeper into our faith? I must admit, that I have been like this for a long time. I never really wanted to get into theology and other "deep stuff" as I like to call it. But, after today my thoughts are changing. It is very important for Christians to be involved in what is going on in our culture. It is very important for us to understand secular views and how they view Christianity. If we don't, how are we suppose to reveal Christ to them? If we want to change America we have to know what they are going to attack us with and have an answer to those attacks. That is just what I'm thinking about right now...
