Y'know, I'm sure I remember you posting to Jorvick, back in the day, deriving great amusement from naming one of your files "the_whales" so that when you hit ctrl-s, it said "Saving "the_whales". Like father, like son!

Hah! I hadn't remembered that but it's totally the sort of thing I would've done. (It's making me snigger to myself while typing this.) If it wasn't me I want to steal credit/culpability anyway.

Yes - Civ 4 is pretty editable with just a text editor, and Civ 5 has a set of modding programs that make it even easier. As you'd expect, there's whole communities and wikis devoted to how to do it.

This seems like exactly the kind of thing that ought to be mandatory learning for kids. And you made it fun! What a jolly excellent Dad you are :)
