Has anyone any personal experience of earplugs for sleeping in? I like to sleep with my head sideways on the pillow, so find the ones that stick out too uncomfortable ( Read more... )

I just use the cheap generic kind from Boots. I am a very light sleeper and like to sleep with my head sideways too.

Mind you, I'm not sure what you mean by "the ones that stick out" - I just push them all the way in...

I'm guessing he means stuff like Etymotics, which have a plastic bit that sticks out of the ear.

Seconded buying the cheap squashy foam ones from Boots - they're great and you don't notice once they're in.

I think I must have terribly short ear canals or something - there appears to be no physical way I can shove those type of earplugs far enough in so as they don't have about half sticking out, so lying on the ear puts uncomfortable pressure on it.

Genius! I've sliced a chunk off the end off some ordinary plugs and they work a charm! So far. Thanks!

I have the same issue. I sleep on my side and have yet to find any earplugs I can use. If you do find some, I'd like to know for when I'm in youth hostels etc.
