I made a rather startling discovery last night while writing Lev's profile on Mesozoic Outpost.

In the prequel to Omerta, which takes place in late 1926, do you know how old Lev and Vlad were? 22, going on 23. My age, at this very moment. Vlad hit 23 about a month after the start of the story. I haven't pinpointed Lev's birthday just yet, but I imagine he is probably an early-year baby. January or February, perhaps. I posted the first story involving him on January 18th, so that makes a whole lotta sense to me...

But that, right there, makes just about everything they do in Half Past Midnight make so much more sense to me. They're young, they're reckless, they're exceedingly brash - they aren't expecting to live to 30 anyway, so why should they be careful? Might as well live like kings while they still can. Which, of course, leads to a metric shit-ton of more problems down the line. They kind of manage to fuck everything up for themselves along the way. :)

God I can't wait to start writing about them. NEED MOAR RESEARCH. And moar subplots.
