Finishing up this meme because come Friday evening, my spring break begins and I will be without access to this computer for a week.
23. How long does it usually take you to complete an entire story-from planning to writing to posting (if you post your work)?
Hah, not counting short stories (which are usually just smaller parts of something larger anyway), I have only ever completed one story, ever - Glory to Downfall, 50-some-odd pages when it was done, took me about four months, I think, from beginning to end. Of those actively being developed, Omerta has been under construction for over three years, and Crouxes’ started active development about two years ago (although most of the characters and the world is considerably older). So… a long time, hah.
24. How willing are you to kill your characters if the plot so demands it? What's the most interesting way you've killed someone?
Let’s just say that my stories are notorious for bloodbath endings and you would probably not want to be one of my characters.
25. Do any of your characters have pets? Tell us about them.
Vlad (and, by extension, Tracy) has a Maine Coon named Donna who is essentially my brat of a kitty with some jealousy issues. Evelyn and her husband Jacob had a white Persian named Murren (which is ‘mumble’ in German) who acted like a queen. Sheva has a black horse named Kahra and a white falcon named Lae. I believe that adequately covers things.
26. Let's talk art! Do you draw your characters? Do others draw them? Pick one of your OCs and post your favorite picture of him!
I try but often fail. XD SSChan ends up drawing them much better than I ever could anyway!
This is probably still my favorite of everything she’s drawn for me:
27. Along similar lines, do appearances play a big role in your stories? Tell us about them, or if not, how you go about designing your characters.
I’m not sure if appearance plays a big role in MOST of my stories, but it does matter to several characters. Vlad (circa Code of Silence) has reached the point where how he is perceived by other people actually matters to him. Evelyn is quite vain. Night believes himself to be a monster, and because of it may in fact actually be one. Crouxes, in his war against the gods, physically alters his appearance to mock them (he has the black stripe commonly depicted on the gods faces tattooed around his eyes).
28. Have you ever written a character with physical or mental disabilities? Describe them, and if there's nothing major to speak of, tell us a few smaller ones.
Oh boy. Silas and Sheva suffer from chronic insomnia and depression. Traver has various anxiety disorders and used to suffer from shell shock. He is also missing his left leg below the knee, his left pinky (left hand and arm are scarred), and chunks of his left ear, which he is mostly deaf in. Vlad, as a child, was a classic example of Conduct Disorder, and as an adult exhibits several symptoms of sociopathy. Crouxes is a fucking megalomaniac. Colonel Camden Valkrie is blind in his right eye and walks with a very obvious limp.
29. How often do you think about writing? Ever come across something IRL that reminds you of your story/characters?
Every. Single. Day.
30. Final question! Tag someone! And tell us what you like about that person as a writer and/or about one of his characters!
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO THIS, HOW BOUT
