earlier this summer i responded to an email from rutgers asking for people to go to the student rally.
i signed up, but didn't end up going because of my friend carlo rossi. regardless, i was sent an invitation to watch the football game this weekend with other student advocates in the presidential box.
what a better time to break out the giant foam finger!
for those of you that don't know, when i interned at the concept farm, i stumbled upon about 100 8 foot tall wearable foam #1 hands. i carried 4 home with me through nyc and of course everyone i walked past was a comedian with great one liners like "noo man, you're number one, but thanks! HAHAHAHAHA!"
i woke up early saturday and jogged down college ave in the hand. i tried walking but felt it necessary to be running at all times while in the hand.
i was one of the first to arrive in the presidential box among middle aged WASP's and other significant donaters. it wasn't long before i found some friends and located the open bar.
i had a goal to get everyone chanting R-U before the 4th quarter. although i didn't accomplish this i did manage to give everyone a hi-5 and take pictures with ever old couple i could find, president McCormick included.
while making friends with the students running the open bar, i was tipped off that after the game everyone has to leave the room because the team and there family come up for a post game party. While they were giving me this information, i was able to slip a bottle of wine into the foam hand and with 2 mins left in the game i headed to the bathroom with my friend to begin our life in hiding.
to keep up the illusion that i was in fact dumping, we created gentle sounds of wind-passings, followed by grunts and moans.
when we felt it safe to leave our ensconce we ventured out to the commons and began to mingle. No one questioned the fact that a giant foam hand was running around giving hi-5's to everyone. the charade was going swimmingly until we got to comfortable. while talking to a couple for longer than we should have, a 6'5'' security guard asked us who we knew there, then proceeded to escort us out of the building. our new friends simply looked the other way.
after the game i went to nyc and the next day got a tatoo...picture coming soon.
