[To most of the Barge this will just sound like a lot of barking. Other animals, especially dogs and dog-like creatures, will hear this instead:HELP! I THINK I'VE BEEN TURNED INTO A DOG! SHERLOCK? SIRIUS? HELP! SOMEBODY ( Read more... )

[Sirius learned through experimenting with Cat!Mozenrath that he can talk to the other animals when he's in his dog form. So, he's hanging out as Padfoot, in case other people are in trouble.]

Calm down, mate. It's Sirius. I'll come over, alright?

[To the untrained ears this is all just a bunch of excited barking.]

Sirius? Sirius! I'm really glad to hear your voice. Come quick, I'm starting to feel...claustrophobic in here.

Sirius became Sirius for the duration of the journey to his warden's room, only because he knew exactly how a locked up dog felt. He didn't want to be distracted by any animal mutterings on his way. He had already decided he would spend this flood putting his newly re-acquired Animagus self to use. It was almost spooky, really. Getting his doggy powers back just in time for a flood like this.

But first things first. When he arrived at John's door, he unlocked it with his wand. Once the wand was tucked away, he opened the door enough to fit inside, then he transformed. He padded inside and sniffed at the air.

John had spent a few minutes in a blind panic running back and forth in the room, knocking over furniture and making a disorderly mess out of his own things. The room felt as though it was shrinking, and so he kept running and barking madly, finally calming down enough when he knew Sirius was on his way.

He went and had a lie down underneath his desk, remaining there when he heard his door open and saw another dog entering the room. Even though he had been the one to return Sirius' ability to transform to him, he hadn't actually seen his inmate as a dog before. He stayed where he was - not cowering, but on his guard.

Sirius kept his own mind whilst in dog form, but a dog's emotions were simpler than a human's emotions. He saw another dog and his tail started wagging. He was a simple creature, really.

"How are you doing, John?" He was used to mentally nudging other animals whilst in dog form. He and his mates could practically talk whilst transformed, but it wasn't this. Talking was brilliant.

Sirius was a large dog - much larger than John anyway, but the friendly voice and the open door were things that helped John push the panic further away.

He crawled out from his hiding place under the desk. "Much better now that I see an open door. Thanks for coming." Not to mention the sight of a fellow dog seemed to spark the sudden desire to bounce up and down and bark excitedly again. "I have paws, Sirius, paws."

"Yes, you do. I'm so glad you're a dog! Everyone else is a bloody cat, and I hate cats." He bounded over and gave John a sniff, his tail wagging. "We should play fetch. I can throw a stick for you. You'll love it."

"Not such a big fan of cats myself." Especially now...for some reason. He probably would have snorted a little too and made some comment about fetch - seriously? Seriously? ...except that it actually sounded sort of appealing.

His tail wagged and he circled around Sirius, poking his head out the door. He was so low to the ground now. It was odd, definitely odd. "D'you have a tennis ball or something?" His shoulder was aching a bit - this running around on all fours business wasn't great for that war wound.

"No, I don't. I have my wand, though, once I switch back to my other body. I'm sure we can improvise." He bounded over to the door and poked his head out, too; it was easy enough to do so with John there as well, since he was so much bigger. "With some of the nutters on board, be on the lookout for lions and basilisks and Merlin knows what else. Being that this is the Barge, I doubt we're in for all cats and chipmunks."

John wasn't very worried about the other animals, just his lack of hands and the appearance of fur. He followed Sirius, hanging off to the side as he poked his head out the door. "If we could deal with dinosaurs for a week, I think we can handle whatever else may come our way. This...probably won't last for very long."

"Were you here for the last flood? I think they last a few days." He sat back on his haunches and scratched behind his ear. He sniffed at the air and stood upright again. "I want to run. I haven't run as a dog in so long." He bounded down the corridor.

"A few days? A few days?" John wasn't sure he'd be able to last a few days. Granted, there were worse things he could have been turned into, but a few days with four legs, paws, a tail, and fur?

He swallowed down his worry and hurried after Sirius. At least he'd have a guide, somebody to help him out. He knew Sherlock wasn't going to be of much help in all of this....
