Matt and I gettin ready to leave
We took some pictures at the vista point
We also went swimming when we got to my gramp's house
Day 1:
We first saw the Section Quartet which cover a lot of Radiohead songs, the also covered franz ferdinand, yeah yeah yeahs, and tool. They were a good start to a fantabulous festival.
Up next were The New Amsterdams. I had never heard any of their stuff before, but they were pretty good. Too much country for my taste though.
The Walkmen were the first band I saw that I actually listen to in the real world. They def put on a good show.
Check out the cute little kid and the gigantic lense!!!
I never heard the Duke Spirit before either, but they weren't bad. Props to the guy with the broken arm who played his bass anyways.
Common came out last year for a song or two, but this year he got a set all to himself. He was really fun to watch and did some nice freestyling and breakdancing.
Kanye West is well known for his large ego and dope production skills, but not so much his rapping talent. He nevertheless puts on a highly entertaining show and during his set he had a backing string orchestra which was really cool.
Sigur Ros is one of my all time favorite bands, so this was such an awesome experience to get to see them perform live.
Franz Ferdinand are great live. I like their cd's but i like them live 10x better.
Unfortunatly I didn't get to take any pictures of Depeche Mode because i couldnt reach to my backpack while I was being pushed up against the railing, but they were good.
Day 2:
The Octopus Project was one of the bands that because of myspace got asked to perform. They were amazingly good, I'd say one of the top 5 performances I saw over the weekend. Their mix of postrock and electronica was great. They also gave away tamobrines.
The Giant Drag is a two person band and the singer/guitarist is one of the weirdest girls i have ever seen. She had matt and i laughing a lot in between songs, which weren't half bad either.
Mates of State was another two person band, this one less weird and more singalongish. They did a cover of "These Days" which I liked.
I have a few Ted Leo albums and was glad i got a chance to see him as he puts on a good show.
I liked Minus the Bear from what I heard before, but after their show I like them a lot more.
I missed Bloc Party last year at coachella, but got to see them this time. They have grown soo damn popular it felt almost like a headliner band would upfront. Fantastic show, nevertheless.
Have you heard of Digable Planets? I know I hadn't before coachella announced their lineup, but it was a fun hip hop show and a nice change in music styles after all the rock i heard that day.
I remember Mogwai having technical difficulties two years ago and they had them again this year, but they were still amazing.
The Go! Team were my favorite set of the weekend. It was the most fun I think I've ever had a concert before and what made it even better was that she talked to Matt and I: before one song the main singer was like raise your hand if you're here with someone special and matt rose his hand and looked at me. She saw us and said in her british accent "Does he know it? You rose your hand up and looked at him." It was awesome.
We stayed for one song of tool, but there were just way too many people so we headed to the car.
