Five O'Clock Shadow Lives (yet) Again - May 20th in Arlington, MA

Mar 18, 2005 23:33

It really is the group that won't die, which is just fine with me.

I got the word last week that the current incarnation of my old group, Five O'Clock Shadow, is in talks to make a new Japanese album for release later this year.

This is pretty cool news for those who love the current "plugged-in" FOCS sound.

And for those fans of "ClassicFOCS" and the days of Jungle Beat, Green Eyes, and Heavy Cloud, No Rain, it looks like it's time to party like it's 1995.

Stack and the boys have invited us FOCS alums to come back and do it one more time; on May 20th there will be a FOCS REUNION concert at the Regent Theater in Arlington. The format will be similar to the apparently poorly named farewell concert of two years ago, with ClassicFOCS singing in the first half and the current group taking over after intermission. All proceeds of the show are earmarked to benefit victims of last winter's tsunami.

Dave, Warren, Bill, JoJo, and I will all be there to sing all the good old songs we can remember. Wes, alas, is booked for a House Jacks concert in California that night, but fortunately we have an ace-in-the-hole: Rockapella percussionist (and founding FOCS member!) Jeff Thacher will be providing VP for us. I can't wait; I really miss singing those old songs, and love the fact that I'm getting another chance. (Now if we could only get Fruvous to also have a reunion show, my year would be complete.)

I'm sure Stack will post all the requisite info on www.focs.com, so stay tuned, please spread the word, and I look forward to seeing lots of my friends in May! I'm working on convincing Laura to come out with Megan this time; we'll see...
