The TV screen flickered with static, a cacophony of pixels that filled the silent apartment. Vanya, a young man with a passion for basketball and a penchant for the peculiar, sat cross-legged on the floor, a bowl of half-eaten chips balanced on his knee. The room was dimly lit, the only sound being the occasional crackle of the TV as it searched for a signal in the dead of night. He had spent hours watching the game, his eyes glazed over and his mind wandering to the distant echoes of the ball bouncing off the gleaming hardwood of the gym
floor.

Suddenly, the static coalesced into a figure that seemed eerily familiar. It was a duck, but not just any duck. The creature had Vanya's eyes-his own, human eyes-staring back at him from within the foul's feathery face. The sight jolted him upright, the bowl of chips toppling to the floor. "What the hell?" he murmured, his heart racing.

The duck-human hybrid spoke in a deep, resonant voice that seemed to fill the room. "Vanya," it intoned, "Do you remember the dreams of your youth? The aspirations you held so dear?" Vanya felt a chill run down his spine as the creature continued, "You wanted to fly, didn't you? To soar above the mundane and touch the stars. But you've forgotten, haven't you?" The words were like a sledgehammer to Vanya's conscience, shattering the complacent shell he had built around himself
